From one income stream to five: what happened when I started building in public

Originally sent as "from one to multiple revenue streams: my playbook" to the From operator to owner newsletter.

In early 2024, I had what many people chase for years: a stable, well-paying role. One clear income stream. A lane I could stay in.

It was safe. It was comfortable. It was also stagnant. Relying on one income stream makes you fragile. The company changes direction. Your role gets restructured. Or you just stop growing.

So I made a shift, not because I had it figured out, but because staying still wasn't an option.

What happened when I showed up consistently

I started building in public on LinkedIn. Not much of an audience. No roadmap. No guarantees. Just one decision: show up consistently and share what I was doing. What I was building, what I was learning, what was working and what wasn't.

From that one shift, everything started compounding:

  • I turned my knowledge into a digital product that generates scalable income.
  • A founder reached out for advice, and it became a paid advisory role.
  • I launched a newsletter that reaches hundreds of engaged readers every week.
  • I got invited to speak at tech conferences.
  • I was brought in to lead programs at large companies, helping their leaders build personal brands.

And then my inbox filled with: "Wanna co-found a B2B SaaS with me?" "Wanna mentor in our accelerator?" "Wanna launch a podcast together?" "Wanna be a partner and investor in our fund?" I didn't say yes to all of them. As an entrepreneur and mom of two, you learn to choose your battles.

The real point: I wasn't chasing these opportunities. They showed up because I created visibility.

The playbook: stack, don't wait

This is how the smartest founders operate today. They don't wait for one big break. They stack income streams intentionally. They start small, build once, monetise in multiple ways.

You don't need a massive audience. You don't need to go viral. You do need clarity, consistency, and the courage to start sharing.

Are you still depending on one stream of income? Or are you ready to build your own ecosystem, where your knowledge, experience, personal brand and reputation compound into new opportunities?

In six months, you'll wish you'd started now. Start with the guide on building an audience business.
